One of the most iconic figures in the history of music was brought to life at the Princess Theatre Torquay, when Zion the Band, recreated the Reggae sounds of Bob Marley, for a select but appreciative audience last Thursday night.

Zion brought with them a two-hour show packed to bursting with almost thirty of the great songs that have influenced an unimaginable number of musicians and music fans for decades.

Leroy Peters is the man producing the Bob Marley sound, and he does an excellent job of it as well, producing the instantly recognisable twang of the mans voice perfectly, with three excellent backing singers and a superb band behind him, close your eyes it could be the great man himself on stage.

Exodus, got us started and it took barely the first half of the song to get people out of their seats and dancing, Buffalo Soldiers, Get up Stand up, No Woman no Cry, were my pick of the first half of the evening, video clips were sandwiched between numbers on the large screen at the back of the stage to excellent effect to make the total experience complete.

Zion were quickly into their stride, Leroy and the singers looking and sounding their parts, highly enthusiastic, obviously enjoying themselves and that ebbed through to the crowd who all around me were seriously getting into the Reggae beat with delight.

After the break, and with on stage costume changes, the Reggae continued, Is this love, Zion Train, One Love, all were present and correct, and received with rapture by the swaying army of Reggae fans for whom the two hour show was over fat too quickly.

In Zion the Band the music of Bob Marley, is reproduced with the respect that it deserves, the energy it deserves, and most importantly with the high quality that it deserves, for all Reggae fans they are well worth a viewing.
